When I travel, I am not ashamed to admit that I take a lot of stuff with me. Like many seasoned travelers, I pack based on destination, weather and planned activities.
Trips by Car: I have to resist throwing everything in the car for the "just in case" moments. Then again, because I forget something, it seems to be on my sightseeing list to make a Walmart run in every city, town and mountain we visit. It's a tough balance. Depending on who's with me (I sometimes have kids), I can have anything from a first aid kit to a spare bicycle.
Traveling can be expensive but there are many ways where it can be cheap also. Like anything you buy, you get what you pay for. Invest in your gear and it will last you for a long time.
